UE/R UPPER EAST REGIONAL MINISTER CALLS ON CHIEFS FOR SUPPORT IN BRIDGING EDUCATIONAL GAP AND MAINTENANCE OF PEACE IN THE REGION.

Hon. Paulina Patience Abayage has described His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as a development oriented leader who is desirous of transforming this country through his ambitious flagship policies and programs.

These policies and programs included the One Village One Dam, One District One Factory, One District One Warehouse, Planting for food and Jobs which is to commence in 2019 as captured in the next budget and the planting for Export and Rural Development.

She said these as she addressed the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs during their end of year ordinary meeting.

Hon. Abayage noticed that there was a yawning educational gap between the North and the South considering the fact that the first Castle school started around 1529 in Elmina, Cape Coast whereas the first school started in 1906 in the Northern Territories hence she charged parents and guardians to support the education of their wards especially the girl child with the advent of the free SHS programs.

Touching on some social vices, Hon. Abayage solicited the support of all and sundry in the region to help fight against open defecation, indiscriminate bush burning and teenage pregnancy among others.
She said the government is also committed to promoting Ghana’s Cultural diversity as a rich asset which the nation can exploit for growth, employment and wealth creation.

She appealed to the revered chiefs as a rallying point who are always in touch with all manner of persons from different walks of life to tread cautiously to be seen as a neutral in the midst of these diversities as true politically independent traditional rulers.

She also pleaded with the chiefs to help in maintenance of peace in the region, since a peaceful region will help the region to grow and will also attract investors.
