GA/R HEALTH MINISTRY COMMISSIONS 3 ULTRAMODERN POLYCLINICS
The Minister of Health, Hon. Kwaku Agyemang Manu, has commissioned three (3) ultramodern polyclinics namely, Sege in Ada West District, Ashiaman in Ashiaman Municipality and Ogbojo in Adentan Municipality, all in Greater Accra Region to promote the quality of health care delivery in the country.
Well equipped
The 30-bed polyclinics have an administration block, pharmacy, operation theatre, delivery room, standard ward, paediatric ward, obstetric ward, maternity ward, laundry and a cold room to store corpse before taking to the mortuary.
Government’s promised
According to Hon. Kwaku Agyemang Manu, this is part of the five clinics the president promised to deliver to bring quality health care to the doorsteps of the people nationwide and achieve the Universal Health Coverage.
NHI registration
Kwaku Agyeman Manu, who is also a Member of Parliament (MP) for Dormaa Central, in the Bono Region speaking in the ceremony charged health workers, who would be posted to the new polyclinics to ensure zero tolerance of maternal mortality at the facility and urged the residents to register for the national health insurance card so that they can get better medical care when they are ill.
Ban of mobile phones
The Director-General of Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare also added that they will soon ban the use of mobile phones among health professionals in various health facilities across the country. According to him, it comes on the back of complaints of poor customer service among health workers often attached to their phones during working hours, to the detriment of human lives. “We will soon send letters round on how the system would be run such that when you enter the hospitals or clinics, you will not have access to a bile network and in place of that, we use intercoms or provide other means of communicating if need be.” he hinted.
Calls for support
The chiefs and people of the area thank the government for hearing out their carry. They added that they will make sure that the property is in good shape to help benefit people in the community and ask them to keep their doors open when every their calls for support.
