N/R Accept final road-map to peace – Tolon Regent urges Dagbon youth
The Regent of Tolon, Retired Major Sulemana Mahama Abubakari, has
implored the youth of Dagbon to abide by the Otumfuo led Mediation
Committee’s final road-map to the restoration of peace in Dagbon.
The Mediation Committee’s Chairman, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu
II, presented the final road-map to the President at the Jubilee House
on Wednesday.
President Nana Akufo Addo has since issued an executive order on the
final road-map which has paved the way for the performance of funerals
of the late two Overlords of Dagbon.
The Tolon Regent, Retired Major Sulemana Abubakari in an interview with reporters implored the Dagbon youth to remain calm.
“Everybody in Dagbon should be patient. I am saying patience because
sometimes when things like that happen and you start jubilating, it can
derail a lot of things. Sometimes when this sort of thing happens and
you think you have lost you know maybe, in the final analysis, you will
be the winner. So let all of us as Muslims put our trust in God.”
“I believe that nobody should be rejoicing and nobody should be
crying. It is the will of Allah, let us get together perform the two
Kings’ funerals and see what the future will bring to Dagbon.”
The Tolon Regent asked the youth to desist from any negative tendencies likely to overturn the progress made so far.
He tasked them to respect the decision of the three eminent Kings mediating the Dagbon chieftaincy stalemate.
He said Dagbon youth should serve as peace Ambassadors in their localities.
Retired Major Sulemana Abubakari thanked the Mediation Committee and
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo for the bold steps taken to bring to
finality the Dagbon chieftaincy impasse between the Abudu and Andani
royals.
“The first thing is to thank Almighty God for making it possible with
the eminent chiefs and the President to agree on the process that will
actually bring peace to Dagbon.”
