N/R 11years old boy drowns at Damongo Akpeteshie Dam
An 11 year old boy from Ngbaripe, a suburb of Damongo in the Northern region died in a dam called Akpeteshie dam in Damongo yesterday.
Akpeteshie dam is one of the oldest dams in Damongo and it is located opposite the Nursing Training college in Damongo.
The boy who tried to rescue another boy when he almost drown succeeded in rescuing him but died after the first victim was saved by him.
He got drown in the process after saving his friend.
It took a combined team of rescuers more than seven hours to locate the body of the victim in the water.
His father Mr Achintir could not control his tears when his son’s body was found.
The Damongo police was at the scene when the body was retrieved.
He has since been buried.
