EAST GONJA ….51 ASSEMBLY MEMBERS RECEIVE MOTORBIKES

Assembly members of the East Gonja Municipal Assembly in the northern region have received motorbikes from the Municipal Chief Executives to aid them discharge their duties in their electoral areas.

The motorbikes which is an initiative from the Common fund secretariat through the local government ministry was received by both elected members and government appointees.
Speaking at a short ceremony to hand over the motorbikes to the assembly members, the Member of Parliament for Salaga South Constituency Adam Braimah Salifu admonished the honourable members of the Assembly to use the motorbikes to move to their respective electoral areas to meet with the people to identify their challenges for the Assembly to factor them in its small, medium and long term development plan.
“These motorbikes will help you get more closer to the people to identify their challenges so that you can present them at general assembly meetings for action to be taking”
He added that government has seen the need to ensure decentralization of government structures to underscore development which is targeted at lessening the burden of citizens in the interior communities.
On his part, the Municipal Chief Executive for East Gonja Mohammed Tamimu charged the Assembly members to help the Assembly to increase its revenue generation to be able to fast track the needed development in the Municipality.
He used the opportunity to thank the Assembly members for their role in ensuring a massive turnout in the December 27 referendum.
Speaking on behalf of the Assembly members, the Assembly man for Kpembe electoral area Alhassan Kerry  applauded government for the gesture and promise they will use the motorbikes to achieve the intended purpose.
He however charged the MCE to fast track the registration of the motorbikes.
