On 12th April 2019, Spring-UP Global Network embarked on its first outreach dubbed called Come Alive Tour. It was organized at the Weep Not Child Orphanage at Nsawam. Spring-UP Global Network volunteers talked to the children on the topic, self-esteem. There was a break out session where two mentors were paired with a maximum of eight children in a group. During this session, the mentors created a great bond with the children by interacting on a personal level and further elaborating on “self-esteem” which was the topic for the Come Alive Tour.

Positive change

During the mentorship sessions at the maiden Come Alive Tour, one of the children said he did not like how his eyes looked. After the self -esteem talk with his mentor, he accepted that he is unique and handsome just the way he is. Coincidentally, it was their last day at school for the academic year. To make it a memorable one, the Spring-UP team led by 4C who is an urban Gospel artist treated the children to some of his melodious songs. They had dancing competitions and other games. The day ended with the mentees taking memorable pictures with their mentors. Come Alive Tour 2019 was indeed a great success.

vision

Paying forward the good things they enjoyed or did not get to enjoy as children motivated her to start Spring-UP Global Network. As an individual, she believes that, for all the good things she wished she had as a child but couldn’t have, she will work to provide them for children. Also, the opportunity to constantly build a team of mentors who visit orphanages and underprivileged schools to mentor children has made her believe that they can offer change wherever they find themselves with whatever resource they have.
