United Krobo Foundation (UNIKOF) has threatened to embark on a three days demonstration against VRA for failing to respond to a letter and two other press releases

The United Krobo Foundation (UNIKOF) has threatened to embark on a three days demonstration against VRA for failing to respond to a letter and two other press releases.

According to the Executives led by the General Secretary Samuel Griffix, a letter dated 15th August 2018 to VRA was never responded to.

A first press release dated 30th October, 2018 giving a fourteen days ultimatum also failed to yield any results.

Subsequently, a third press release was issued on 22nd November, 2018 and this to no avail.

For me, I do not see the reason for this long silence on part of management of VRA to respond appropriately, what ever the grievances on resettlement after the construction of Akosombo dam, there should be some legal documentations, why not clear doubts of the teaming youth and communities.

The MP’s and MCE’s are to act as stakeholders in this matter to bring peace, the long agitations must stop.

When people in society demand answers, those in authority must rise to deliver.

Even though I do not agree that, electricity bills are not paid by the people as some factions demand due to the destruction of properties by the construction of the Akosombo dam, I suggest deliberations will find an amicable solution.

I plead to add my voice, the Hon. Minister of Interior, Hon. Ambrose Derry must act as a pivot to summon a meeting between VRA and its allies before the fourteen days given by UNIKOF is due.

We must always learn from the past and not allow the avoidable to advance us in unawares.

Respond to UNIKOF for peace and development, these are citizens demanding answers.

Article 21 (1) d of 1992 constitution and the public order act 1994 (Act 491) will support the proposed demonstration by UNIKOF, but will reduce general productivity.
