The disaster occured yesterday at 3:34pm following a five hour torrential rain with windstorm.
The district nadmo director, Mr. Mahama abdul-rahman says the rest of the communities in the district may be submerged by the next rain.
According to him directly far 110 houses have been destroyed, over 10 schools and some teacher bungalows affected, some communities cut off, some 133 people displaced, 923 farms submerged, 15 goats drowned and one person dead.
He expressed worry over the fact that schools are going to resume next week but with some schools affected and some teacher’s quarters too, he was not sure how the situation will be managed.
When asked, the headmaster of kubori d/a primary school, Mr issifu sumaila said ‘my school and teachers’ bungalow are affected and so the teachers as well as the KG children and those in lower primary will have to wait at home at least one week more before they can report for the term.’
