Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations thanks Parliament of Ghana for introducing sign language interpretation into the house’ proceedings.
The Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations (GFD) wants to express it enormous gratitude to the Parliament of Ghana for introducing sign language interpretation into the house’ proceedings.
The announcement by the Parliament yesterday that it has employed the services of sign language interpreters to communicate proceedings to people with hearing impairment is definitely a very welcoming news to the hearing impaired association particularly and the GFD at large.
This gesture is very much appreciated because we believe if every state agency decides to change just one tiny thing in its outfit to accommodate Persons With Disabilities (PWD), the narrative will change drastically.
Therefore as we hail Ghana’s Parliament for this gesture, we spur them on to do more by way of making their structures more accessible to PWDs.
They equally want to use this opportunity to call on other state agencies to emulate this laudable gesture as it will go a long way to change the lives of PWDs in the country, which will in turn help them contribute their quota to national development.
Thank you
Signed
PRINCE DEBRAH ,( President of Ghana federation of Disability organizations. GFD Kumasi METRO.)
