George Andah not being treated abroad, steadily recovering in Ghana – Aide

The general public has been asked to disregard reports that Deputy
Minister of Communications, George Andah has been flown outside the
country to receive further treatment after Saturday’s car crash.

George Andah was involved in a motor accident yesterday but is making a steady recovery at the 37 military hospital in Accra.

The Awutu Senya West MP’s vehicle collided head-on with an
articulated truck on the Bawjiase road at Kasoa in the Central Region.

He was in the area to interact with his constituents and attend other social functions.

But, a post on the legislator’s official Facebook page maintained
that he has not been flown to the U.K, South Africa or anywhere else
outside Ghana.

George Andah in car crash

Mr Andah was airlifted to the 37 Military Hospital for medical attention following the crash.

The Deputy Minister was heading towards Loye, a village near Gomoa Buduburam when the accident occurred.

The accident was confirmed to Citi News’ Central Regional
correspondent, Calvis Tetteh by the Awutu Senya West Constituency
Chairman, Charles Amoah.

Mr. Andah had been on a tour of the constituency at the time.

An aide to Mr. Andah told citinewsrooom.com that, the deputy Minister was in a stable condition.

Members of Mr. Andah’s family have since made their way to the hospital.

“I have seen him. He is in a stable condition. Thankfully I came here
to meet the family. They are here with him. They are supporting him,”
the aide said.

Mr. Andah’s vehicle was involved in a collision with an articulated truck.

He was in the car with the driver, a bodyguard and a constituency executive from Awutu Senya West.

Carnage on our roads

The Buduburam -Jei river stretch of road which was being used by the
Deputy Communications Minister was constructed some 15 years ago to be
used as a bypass road to ease vehicular traffic during the construction
of the main Kasoa – Cape Coast trunk road.

Since then no maintenance has been seen on that road, even though it
is now widely used by motorists to connect to Swedru and Accra.

The driver of the double axles tipper truck has been arrested and
detained at the Buduburam police station, and is undergoing
interrogation, an eyewitness noted to Citi News.
