N/R DAMONGO : YAGBON DAMBA 2018
The OverLord of the Gonja Kingdom His Royal Majesty Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa (I)has thanked the president of the republic of Ghana His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo for listening to his plea to create a new region out of the present Northern Region for they people in the Savannah zone.
The OverLord said this during an address delivered by the registrar of the Gonja Traditional Council Mr Abutu Kapori on behalf of the Yagbonwura to Climax the occasion of Yagbon grand Damba 2018 at the Jakpa Palace in Damongo in the West Gonja district of the Savannah region.
According to Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa Sulemana Jakpa his predecessor many years ago made similar pleas to past government for the need in the creation of another region out of the present northern region.
He [ Yagbonwura ] made an appealed through the deputy Chief of Staff Mr Samuel Abu Jinapor to convey his message to the government to solve the perennial water problem in Damongo and also open up the roads from Kpandai – Salaga – Bunjai – Derba – Tuluwe – Kusawgu to link up to the Fufulso – DAMONGO – Sawla high trunk road.
Yagbonwura thank his people for their peaceful coexistence and encouraged them to live in peace and also consider each another as brothers and sisters. He urged his people to come out in their numbers on 27th December 2018
to vote massive YES for the Savannah region.
The DAMBA celebration brought together Chief’s and traditional authorities, Politician’s and other stakeholders.
