BE/R Reta Foundation holds two days soap making workshop for women

Twenty-five women and five pastors in the Atebubu Amantin Municipal in the Bono East Region benefited from making liquid soap, washing powder, shower gel, antiseptic, bleach, bar soap, yoghurt and nkatie burger training last Wednesday and Thursday. The goal of this activity is to enhance their monetary freedom from their husbands and their families. This is why RETA (reach them all) Foundation based Atebubu, has come to empowering women in this manner for their better future.

The two days skills training workshop was conducted to support woman by helping them to build up their own business. The workshop has given them the basic concept of soap making. The creation of women networks and the establishment of business for women is enough to make it work. The training provide the woman with academic knowledge that helps women to better manage the business, sell the product and also manage their everyday house duties. According to the journalist present, it was amazing watching these women working together, in order to produce liquid soap and other products that can benefit them in future.

Participate next time

Two Agyeiwaa Deborah and Mary Acheampong women who participate in the training speak to Communitywatchdoggh by saying the training was very good for them and called on their colleagues who do not make it do so next time. They said their colleagues who do not make it have missed a lot which can help them in future.

Contributing to sustainable development goals

The CEO of the organization, Joyce Eugenia Korsah, speaking on the theme of empowering women and girls and also to celebrate mothers, at the just gone by mother’s day said their organization is working hard on the SDGs (sustainable development goals) to help provide a better and more sustainable future for all. The goals interconnect and in order to leave no one behind, it is important that they achieve each Goal and target by 2030. She said on the goal 5 on the SDG, which says achieve gender equality and empower women and girls by providing women and girls with equal access to education, health care, decent work, and representation in political and economic decision-making processes will fuel sustainable economies and benefit societies and humanity at large. Joyce Said female equality in the workplace in the gender-based are discriminated dominant in many countries around the world. She added the doors are open for agencies that are ready to come in for partnership to help achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs).

Enhancing employment and business opportunities for women

The founder of the foundation, Mr Bismark Boakye Yiadom, briefly added, RETA foundation is aimed at empowering rural women economically through innovative training and workshop to help change women employment in the country. He said in order to improve employment opportunities for women, RETA foundation used their own resources to provide vocational skills training for the women to enhance opportunities for productive employment and income generation by soap making as a sustainable business. Bismark said the program was announced on the radio, served letters to churches and communities for everyone to attend but it turns out to be twenty-five people. Bismark ended by saying their Organization is into Health and Sanitation, ICT, Girl Child Education, Girls and Women Empowerment, Widows and Orphans.
