BE/R Poor road network made residents of Abourso unable to transport farm produces to market

Residents of New Tunsuase Electoral area popularly called “Abourso” who are mainly traders and farmers in Techiman in the Bono East regional Capital are lamenting over their poor road network which makes it extremely difficult for them to travel to the central business area for their daily activities.

According to them, the roads are very bad to the extent that motors or vehicles are unable to pass or convey people and their goods from the town to their households. They said even their farm produces from the Abourso community to the market is a problem due to this rainy season which has made life very unbearable for them in recent times.

Some residents further expressed their fear of a possible disease outbreak because of how their full and abandoned refuse dumpsite when it rains floods through their bad road potholes and ends up entering their houses.

Community Authorities

Unit Committee Chairman for New Tunsuase, Mr. John Nsor, reiterated that their team under the leadership of Hon. Abdul Ali Sammed, Assembly member for the electoral area had made tireless efforts to get the roads fixed but they were no support. He added that he is optimistic that the authorities would as a matter of urgency come to their aid to help saved the problem.

Government Appointee

Meanwhile, the Techiman Municipal Chief Executive Hon. John Kofi Donyinah, when contacted, he explained that there is an ongoing reshaping exercise of all town roads by the Techiman Municipal Assembly, which Abourso community wouldn’t be excluded. Therefore he pleaded with the residents to exercise a little more penitence.

He assured that Techiman in would see a major facelift in terms of development in no time, especially roads and other infrastructures, now that the City has been elevated to a regional capital status.
